"How much do I need to get started?" is the first question asked by anyone considering home cleaning as a business. Good news: it is one of the most accessible trades to launch in France — provided you know the real cost items.
Setting up: an almost symbolic cost
As a micro-entrepreneur, registration through the INPI one-stop portal is free and takes less than an hour online. As a company, expect a few hundred euros in registry and legal notice fees.
No premises are needed at first: the business can be registered at home. A lean start is genuinely possible.
The real cost: the one that returns every month
Social contributions (around 21–22% of turnover for personal services, halved in the first year with the ACRE scheme) and professional liability insurance (€150 to €400 a year) are the two items to build into your very first rate.
Add starter equipment (€300 to €800 for a complete, durable kit) and travel, often underestimated: €150 to €300 a month depending on the area.
A realistic budget, not a dream budget
A lean start costs between €500 and €1,000; a comfortable start between €1,500 and €2,500. In every case, keep a safety cushion equal to two or three months of expenses.
