How many hours should you plan to clean a chalet?

When an owner asks how long it takes to clean their chalet, the answer does not depend on surface area alone. Two 120 m² homes can require very different times depending on layout, occupancy and expected result. A serious estimate takes several concrete factors into account.
Surface area gives a first benchmark
The size of the home gives an idea of the overall workload. The more rooms, floor surface and furniture a chalet has, the more time the visit requires.
But surface area does not tell the whole story. A very open home, lightly furnished and looked after regularly, can be faster than a smaller apartment with many objects, rugs, stairs or hard-to-reach areas.
Number of bedrooms and bathrooms
Bathrooms are among the most technical spaces to maintain. They involve several steps: sanitary fixtures, shower or bath, taps, mirrors, surfaces, floors and trace checks.
Bedrooms also take time when beds have to be stripped, prepared or fully changed.
A chalet with five bedrooms and four bathrooms cannot be estimated the same way as a home of similar size with only two bedrooms and one bathroom.
Linen strongly changes duration
Making beds, sorting used linen, folding towels and organising stock is a real part of the service.
Time increases when several beds must be prepared, when linen is mixed or badly identified, when mattress protectors must be replaced, when beds are hard to access, or when sets must follow a precise presentation.
Washing, drying or collecting linen are separate services when not handled on site.
Initial state and expected finish level
Regular upkeep is very different from a deep restart after weeks of occupancy, works or a long closure. Accumulated dust, greasy marks, scaled sanitary fixtures and heavily marked floors necessarily add time.
A first visit often takes longer. Following visits become more predictable when the home is kept on a stable rhythm.
A routine clean maintains a home already followed. A more thorough service can include more details: skirting boards, doors, handles, marks on fronts, furniture alignment, mirror checks or visual preparation of each room.
How to get a reliable estimate?
The best method is to share: surface area; number of bedrooms and bathrooms; number of beds; expected frequency; current state of the home; priority tasks; a few private photos if useful.
This information makes it possible to propose a coherent duration, without underestimating the work or billing useless hours.
The right number of hours is not a standard figure. It is the time actually needed to achieve the agreed result, in good conditions and without sacrificing the finishing touches.
