What can a Personal Cleaner report without replacing a tradesperson?

Working regularly in a home, a Personal Cleaner gradually learns its usual state. She can therefore notice a change: a mark, an unusual smell, a damaged element. This eye is useful, but must stay within the limits of her role.

Report what is visible

A Personal Cleaner can report a fact observed during her visit: water under a sink, a trace of humidity, a bulb no longer working, a loose handle, an appliance not starting, a visible crack, a broken object, a damaged joint, an unusual smell, apparent pests.

She describes what she sees, without asserting the cause.

Do not diagnose

A humidity mark may have several sources. A smell may have several explanations. An appliance may fail for a simple reason or need repair.

The professional must not assert the certain origin of a leak, confirmed dangerous mould, an electrical fault, a structural issue or the likely repair cost. Those conclusions belong to a qualified professional.

Use factual wording

Good wording: 'A wet area is visible on the floor in front of the dishwasher. I did not use the appliance and am sending you a photo.'

Wording to avoid: 'Your dishwasher is leaking and must be replaced.' The first informs. The second states an unverified diagnosis.

Take a useful photo

When the issue can be shown without exposing personal information, a photo helps the owner understand the situation.

The image should focus on the concerned area and be sent only to the authorised person.

Secure without technical work

Facing an obvious risk, the Personal Cleaner can stop using an appliance and contact the owner. She must not dismantle, repair or handle an installation she is not trained for.

In case of immediate danger, she must leave the area and follow appropriate safety instructions.

Who decides next?

The owner or manager decides to contact a tradesperson, organise a visit, shut off equipment, schedule a repair or ask for further checks.

The Personal Cleaner can grant access to a professional only when that mission has been clearly agreed.

Reporting a visible anomaly brings real peace of mind to the owner, especially when they live far away. But this vigilance does not turn the Personal Cleaner into a technical caretaker. Her role is simple: observe, share reliable information and leave the decision to the responsible person.

Each home has its specifics. A first exchange helps understand your needs before any intervention.
